US customers are veering around to IoE linked retail experiences: Cisco survey

A new survey by Cisco has shown that retail consumers in the United States preferred retail experiences linked to the Internet of Everything (IoE).

The fifth annual ‘Cisco Consulting Services Retail Survey’ found that most shoppers wanted innovations that improved convenience and efficiency, extending beyond personalisation. They believed that hyper-relevance delivered values like greater savings, efficiency, among other things, in real time. Analytics helped retailers track in-store patterns and use existing video technology to determine, for example, where shoppers were spending more time in the store.

The report said when asked to identify primary areas for in store retail improvements, 39 per cent of consumers had identified the process of selecting and purchasing goods. By contrast, 13 per cent had chosen a more personalised shopping experience.

For its survey, Cisco Systems, Inc. tested 19 shopping concepts, the results of which could be used to guide retailers on how and where to make strategic innovation investments.
