US co Camgian launches IoT solution Egburt for smart cities, retail, infrastructure

Starkville, Oct. 29, 2014: Information Technology solutions company Camgian Microsystems today released a new Internet of Things (IoT) end-to-end solution called Egburt that can be used in the smart retail, cities and infrastructure sectors.

Using Egburt, customers will be able to draw from real-time analytics from multiple sensor feeds in the field to provide enterprises with immediate operational intelligence and control.

Camgian is a leader in developing advanced information technologies and solutions. Headquartered in Starkville, Mississippi, USA, Camgian is pioneering some cutting-edge innovations – from ultra-low power processors to advanced sensing platforms.

Egburt’s USP is that it will lower the total cost of ownership of IoT solutions by lowering communication costs. The solution utilised a new “edgeware” computing architecture that allows enterprises to push logic and control to the edge of the network and down to where their assets reside. Egburt, claimed Camgian, will also increase battery life and eliminate some of the challenges of processing big data. Because of its flexibility and interoperability with a variety of off-the-shelf sensors, Egburt can be implemented over a broad range of applications.

In retail, for example, Egburt can transform the in-store business analytics by improving communication between retail managers, and creating a clear picture of each store’s overall efficiency. For example, by providing a more detailed understanding of the paths customers travel once they are in store, Ebgurt will help the client increase sales by developing smarter strategies for product placement and store design.

Increasing sales is only part of the equation; Egburt will also help reduce overhead because of smart sensors monitoring key touch points through the store due to which lighting and HVAC costs will be reduced.

Another area where Egburt will be able to show off its potential is in large cities which have disparate systems that monitor different areas of operations such as traffic control, waste management, fire, crime and air quality. Egburt, said the company, will help bring management of these together into a single pane, thus helping improve responsiveness.

By placing sensors in strategic areas, authorities can be notified at the first sign of problems ranging from crime, flood and fire to water contamination and service outages. With these integrated, smart systems, your first responders will know which roads are most congested and which routes are open. The result: faster response, thus avoiding disaster.
