A new report by VDC Research, for example, has said “connected systems” in the IoT were potentially open to many more attack vectors than enterprise IT networks, which was exacerbated by the billions of devices being connected to the IoT. The report said although many IT endpoint and network security vendors currently offered managed security services that were partially or wholly applicable to the IoT, few vendors offered such services that focused on the unique aspects of IoT devices and systems.

Thus, security vendors had a potential market out there that they could capitalise on by tailoring their solutions to managed security services for IoT, especially through focusing on vertical market solutions and through the addition of global threat intelligence.
