Internet of Things and Real Estate: Top guns to discuss the link at Realcomm Conference

iotexhibitpageThe Internet of Things (IoT) comes to real estate. Realcomm Conference Group, LLC, a leader in providing technology education and networking opportunities for the commercial, corporate, government and institutional real estate industry has announced that senior representatives of Cisco, Google, Intel, Microsoft, Tridium and Yardi will be taking part in Realcomm | IBcon on June 18 in Las Vegas, USA, to discuss the impact of IoT on the commercial and corporate real estate industry. This will be the 16th edition of the annual Realcomm Conference & Expo.

Jim Young, co-founder & Chief Executive Officer of Realcomm pointed out that the last year had seen a flurry of activity within the commercial and corporate real estate industry around the topic of IoT. Every major technology company now had an initiative surrounding this movement, and thanks to Realcomm, for the first time anywhere in the world, the global giants will be coming together to discuss IoT and its impact on this industry.

The central focus of this year’s theme is: Embracing Change: REThink, Innovate, Transform.

Participating in the general session panel discussion will be:

  • Rick Huijbregts, VP, Industry Transformation, General Manager, IoE | Smart + Connected Communities, Cisco Systems
  • Patrick Nielsen, Director, NorCal Real Estate & Workplace Services, Google
  • Rick Lisa, Group Sales Director, WW IoT Business Development, Intel
  • Darrell Smith, Director of Energy and Building Technology, Microsoft
  • Nino DiCosmo, President & General Manager, Tridium
  • Anant Yardi, President, Yardi

So how really does IoT figure in real estate? Realcomm says for the commercial and corporate real estate industry, it means that ultimately every device in a building could be connected to the network, sharing information with integrated information management platforms and radically changing how we operate buildings, portfolios, campuses and cities.

Realcomm claimed the BUILDING Internet of Things (BIoT) was “the beginning of the next chapter of the industry’s transformation.” Today’s disconnected analog processes will be replaced with highly automated systems, which will lead to more efficient (energy and operations), sustainable, engaging, safe and profitable real estate.
