Hewlett Packard and Intel team up for open IoT standards solutions

Palo Alto, Nov. 18, 2015: Hewlett Packard Enterprise has announced an alliance with Intel Corporation to deliver open standards based Internet of Things (IoT) solutions to help organisations to quickly gain insights and create value from the growing amount of data collected from devices and sensors. The two companies will also establish three global IoT solutions labs to help customers accelerate their deployment of IoT applications.

Clearly, the rapid evolution in technology is creating a distributed, digital world where data is everywhere, presenting new opportunities for organisations to capture value. Organisations will need to harness 100 percent of the data that matters to them, regardless of source, to inform business decisions and drive results.

According to a press release, Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s IoT solutions combined with the Intel IoT Platform and product portfolio, will deliver new products that will sit at the edge and collect, process, as well as analyse data from sensors and devices. These new systems are designed to sit outside of the traditional data center and will feature Intel Core i5 and Intel Atom processors.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Intel will operate three global IoT Discovery Labs to help organisations experiment and test IoT applications and devices in a secure and confidential environment. The labs will be located in Hewlett Packard Enterprise facilities in Houston, Texas, Grenoble, France and Singapore. To complement the labs, Hewlett Packard Enterprise is also introducing new reference architectures to provide customers with a proven template for delivering IoT solutions.
