French IoT co raises US $21 mln in funding

The French Internet of Things (IoT) startup SIGFOX has raised €15 million (US $21 million) in new funding. SIGFOX is a network operator of sorts, having designed a wireless architecture that’s purely for Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications.

The company said funds were raised from Idinvest Partners, the FSN PME, Fonds Ambition Numérique,  Elaia Partners, Intel Capital, Ixo Private Equity and Partech. These funds will be used to accelerate SIGFOX’s growth and international deployment as well as the team needed for it.

Earlier, we had reported on how SIGFOX, claimed to be the world’s only “dedicated IoT network”, will be deployed across Spain on the Abertis Telecom infrastructure, thus connecting Spain to the SIGFOX global network, already available in France, the Netherlands and Russia.
