China, US, and India top IoT attacks list: Microsoft

Microsoft has identified a large number of security issues related to the Internet of Things (IoT), finding unpatched, high-severity vulnerabilities in 75% of the most common industrial controllers in customer operational technology (OT) networks.

The tech giant’s research also found that 72% of the software exploits utilised by what Microsoft terms “Incontroller” are now available online. These are state-sponsored cyberattacks.

Microsoft said in its report that the top three nations in 2022 from which IoT device malware infections originated were the US, China, & India. In a report published by IT giant Microsoft Cyber Signals, its analysts discovered that 38 percent of all IoT malware came from China, making China the country with the highest percentage.
