Amazon’s Dash button comes to UK

amazon dash buttonIt’s finally come to the United Kingdom (UK). Shopping giant Amazon has launched its Dash physical instant purchase buttons in the UK. Which means consumers there can, at the push of a button, buy nappies, toilet roll, washing powder to a washing machine near you.

The wireless buttons are free for the consumer and can be used to buy a set item. This is Amazon’s way of ensuring that customers are locked into its Prime subscription service.

Daniel Rausch, Director of Amazon Dash, said in a statement, “We’ve all experienced the frustration of running out of something we need-Dash Button and Dash Replenishment Service are designed to make that moment a thing of the past.”

Amazon also launched its Amazon Dash Replenishment Service (DRS) in the UK. The idea behind both the Amazon Dash and the Amazon Dash Replenishment service is that Amazon Prime customers will never need to fret about running out of supplies. DRS is a Cloud service that allows manufacturers to enable their connected devices to automatically re-order household products from Amazon.

To begin with, there are 40 branded buttons to choose from in the UK, each costing £4.99 to purchase but come with £4.99 in credit for the customer’s first order. They’re linked to an Amazon account. Setting up the buttons is fairly simple, says Amazon, using its smartphone app for Android and iOS, connecting to them via Bluetooth or ultrasonics. The buttons stay dormant until pressed, connecting to your home Wi Fi network and placing an order on the first time they are pressed.
