Vodafone has entered into a 10-year partnership with Microsoft to provide AI, digital, enterprise, and cloud services to over 300 million businesses and consumers in Europe and Africa.
The British company will invest $1.5 billion in customer-focused AI using Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI and Copilot technologies, and will transition from physical data centers to more cost-effective and scalable Azure cloud services.
Microsoft will also become an equity investor in Vodafone’s managed IoT platform and assist in scaling Vodafone’s mobile financial platform in Africa.
Vodafone’s Chief Financial Officer believes that Microsoft’s AI leadership, supported by its OpenAI partnership, will revolutionize the telco’s customer services.
