US radio frequency tags manufacturer Alien Tech raises US $35 mln in funds

California, Oct 9, 2014: Alien Technology, a well-known global brand in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Ultra High Frequency (UHF) products and services, today announced it had raised US $35 million in new investments via an international joint venture.The new investor is Shanghai Ruizhang Investment Co., Ltd.

The new funds, said the company, will be used to accelerate its growth through the increased development of new technologies.

The California based company’s board of directors also announced the appointment of Chris Chang as the Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining Alien, Chang was responsible for overseeing Marvell Technology Group’s business strategy, sales and marketing, business development and government relationship for the Greater China Region. At Marvell, Chang drove key strategic partnerships with China service providers and industry players that resulted in double-digit revenue growth. Chang earned a master’s degree in Business Administration from The Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin.
