Two day Internet of Things conference to be held in Shanghai

The two-day Internet of Things (IoT) China 2014 conference as well as China Connected Vehicle and ITS Expo and Forum 2014 will be held at the Shanghai Mart from October 28, 2014. The event is the result of a collaboration between EU-China IoT Summit and the 5th Internet of Things China.

China IoT conferenceAccording to a press statement, the “Internet of Things, Smart Life”-themed event is a roll out of several sessions covering a multitude of topics including smart transportation, healthcare and agriculture based on a framework of developing a smart city as advocated by Shanghai’s municipal government. This year’s event will focus on smart transportation.Taking part will be well-known complete vehicle makers, telecom operators and software and hardware providers, who will display their cutting-edge products and technologies based on a smart city model.

The events will give each of the leaders in their respective fields an opportunity to demonstrate their latest concepts by providing visitors with an excellent interactive experience.

The EU-China IoT Summit is hosted by the IERC, which selected the host city from among three candidates: Shanghai, Chengdu and Beijing. Shanghai was selected as Shanghai International Exhibition Co., Ltd. caught the IERC’s eye due to its influential place in the industry and its recognized strength in hosting international IoT conferences.

The IERC is an IoT research organization sponsored by the EU. At this year’s event, it will introduce several sponsored projects sponsored under the 7th Framework Programme, for which players in China’s IoT industry will compete. The 7th Framework Programme (FP7) is a global science and technology development plan with the most investment in the EU, commissioned by the European Commission.

The FP7, a high-investment project covering a wide range of research topics, is one of the world’s largest official science and technology cooperation project, and focuses mainly on cutting-edge research and difficulties faced by IT companies when dealing with competition at an international level.

Several senior officials from the European Union are also likely to attend the EU-China IoT Summit. The two principal themes of the summit are Global Challenges for IoT, and the Innovative IoT Development Platform. The four themed industry events of the conference are Internet of Vehicles, Smart Agriculture/Food Security, Smart Medicine and Smart City/Cutting-edge Technology, with each event lasting about one hour. EU-appointed subject matter experts will engage in parallel sessions where they will give topical lectures and host interactive communications sessions.

Shanghai International Exhibition Co., Ltd. is also hosting EU-China IoT Business Matching Exchanges, inviting IoT companies from the four corners of the world to engage in lively discussions and develop relationships with European IoT companies and their research and development staff.
