The Nikkei Asian Review reports that Japanese electronics giant Toshiba will launch an Internet of Things platform next year. Included will be companies like SoftBank Group, wireless carrier KDDI and utility Tokyo Gas.
The association of about 100 Japanese companies will be called ‘ifLink Open Community’, said the company, and will be setup by March-end 2020. Like the Amazon model, businesses participating in Toshiba’s new platform will not have to design their own services from scratch. Prototypes can be developed in one or two days by combining products from other companies, reducing the time needed for commercialisation.
