South Korean mobile carrier to launch IoT auto black box

A report has said South Korean mobile carrier, SK Telecom Co will launch an automobile black box using the latest LTE technology for the Internet of Things (IoT).

The IoT Black Box is a machine installed inside an automobile and designed to record speed and direction by utilizing the company’s IoT-based LTE communication network, Cat M1, said this report by  Yonhap News. Agency

LTE Cat M1, one of the LTE standards first developed in 2016, is a low‑power interface that lets a user connect to IoT devices with a medium data rate, SK Telecom said.

Users will be able to check video images recorded through the IoT Black Box with their smartphone, as well as check car alarms in real time, the company said.
