An Internet of Things Center of Excellence will be set by Microsoft in Taiwan, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the US-based company, according to a report in the Taiwan Today.
The Center will be a research venue for 5G, artificial intelligence and IoT technologies. It will additionally provide training to cultivate local talents and enhance home-grown electronics, network communications, precision machining and semiconductor industries.
The center also heralds the second stage of an initiative aimed at upgrading IoT services in Taiwan. Co-launched by the MOEA and Microsoft in 2017, the project’s first stage has generated a production value of NT$3.64 billion (US$120 million) and a further NT$10 billion is expected during the second phase, the report said.
