Machines will write ad copy at JP Morgan Chase

After a pilot project found artificial intelligence (AI) writing better copy than humans, investment bank JPMorgan Chase has signed up with AI company Persado to run its marketing creative.

Chase said late Tuesday that the “pilot” saw a boost of 450 percent increase in click-through rates in messages created by Persado’s Message Machine versus human copywriters.

The international bank started testing the waters about three years ago, by using the tool for its card and mortgage businesses. That relationship has been expanded to other platforms of the bank.

According to Kristin Lemkau, CMO of JPMorgan Chase, machine learning was the path to more humanity in marketing. Persado’s technology helped re-write copy and headlines that a marketer, using subjective judgment and their experience, likely wouldn’t have.
