Launched: MODE Cloud platform for IoT devices

California, US-based startup Mode has announced a Cloud platform designed specifically for the Internet of Things (IoT).

Mode has been launched by ex-Google engineer Gaku Ueda, who is now the startup’s Chief Executive Officer, and former Yahoo engineer Ethan Kan. The MODE Cloud platform will aim at connecting mobile apps with devices, that, too, in real time.

The new platform’s features include:

  • MODE lets your devices communicate seamlessly with your mobile clients
  • MODE has built-in databases to help you track and manage your devices and users
  • It’s easy to integrate your application servers with MODE to create a highly sophisticated automation system
  • The MODE web console gives you full control over your IoT project, with tools for development, operations and data analytics

Team Mode says the Cloud platform’s ease of communication between IoT devices and mobile clients is something not seen before. Devices can communicate with each other seamlessly via the MODE Cloud API. MODE supports push technologies such as Web socket to facilitate remote control of devices even if they are situated behind firewalls. Likewise, push technologies will allow mobile clients to receive data coming from devices instantly.

To start using MODE, all that you need to do is come up with an IoT idea, build hardware and write mobile client, and then hook them up to the MODE Cloud. Following this, you are on to launch your IoT product.
