Korean IoT company launches pet-sitter robot

Seoul, South Korea, Dec. 9, 2019: PEDDY, a pet-sitter robot that takes care of companion pets was recently launched by Guru IoT based in Korea.

According to the company, PEDDY was popular with Petfams. A Petfam refers to a person who regards pets as family members.

The PEDDY is a robot for companion pets that is powered by a smartphone installed in it. It enables pet owner to take care of their pets anywhere by communicating with pets in real time through an application.

PEDDY provides functions of interactive video communication with pets, enabling owner to identify faces and voices of pets, automatic feeding that serves foods to pets at scheduled time and in exact pre-set volume (feeding for approximately 2 days in case of a small dog), and a variety of entertainment functions that can mitigate loneliness of pets, said the company.

It also can sense abnormal situations at home, such as burglary or fire. Equipped with sensors that can measure temperature, humidity, and noise, the robot features functions of sensing a rapid change in temperature or sound of continued barking or howling by pets and shares them with the user who is staying outside. When any abnormal situation occurs, PEDDY can take pictures of surrounding conditions by turning 360 degrees and send them to the user.
