Indian co Persistent Systems ties up with IBM to develop IoT platform

Indian company Persistent Systems has launched a specialised engineering service for the IBM Watson Internet of Things (IoT) platform towards improving and transforming engineering processes and integrating new specialised services.

According to a report by news agency Press Trust of India, the tie-up will help engineers integrate massive amount of data from the IoT into product development.

Persistent will co-invest in the platform and will also build parts of it. Persistent Systems currently has more than 1,000 engineers who are dedicated on IBM platforms including Watson, Continuous Engineering and BlueMix. Each company will also join each other’s advisory board, its founder and Chief Executive Officer Anand Deshpande told PTI.

He, however, said the partnership will be revenue-accretive and work done on it will account for a “significant” part of its revenue in the next couple of years.

The partnership involves implementing and building the software suite for the IBM Watson IoT Platform, first launched in the third quarter of 2014, and also helping its other clients on IoT solutions using IBM’s platform, Deshpande said.
