Indian authorities embark on plan to introduce Wi Fi in 25 cities

The Indian Government is actively looking at ways and means to speedily dish out free Wi Fi access portals at select public places in top 25 cities, catering to a population of over 1 million each. This rollout is to be completed by June 2015.

The drive is part of the much publicised ‘Digital India’ program. But, while the government has said cities, it is actually chunks of 25 cities where this program will be rolled out. If the Indian authorities manage to achieve this target, it will pave wave for faster implementation of the Internet of Things, in these cities, too, say analysts.
