Huawei’s IoT OS & protocol to be available in Q2 2016

Huawei has said it will launch HiLink protocol and Huawei LiteOS in the second quarter of 2016, marking its foray into the Internet of Things (IoT).

For that, it had partnered with Chinese home appliances maker Haier as well as Chinese home solutions provider Broadlink. Huawei will not be making IoT devices, but will provide a framework for efficient communication between the IoT devices.

Huawei also announced a host of new WiFi routers, including a PRO series which claims speeds of up to 1000Gbps, aimed at gamers. These routers will be available with Hi-Link inside.

In May this year, at an event in Beijing, Huawei executives had showcased its ‘Agile IoT’ architecture, including the operating system LiteOS to control basic devices. Huawei executives have touted Agile architecture as a free and open standard that would allow hardware designers to easily make connectable devices.
