‘Helium’ creates peer-to-peer connectivity to decentralize IoT devices

Decentralized connectivity is a very new & exciting idea, particularly if you consider the current price of cellular data.

‘Helium’, an innovative startup founded by Shawn Fanning, Amir Haleem, and Sean Carey in 2013, has developed a hotspot hardware which creates  peer-to-peer networks that allows the Internet of Things (IoT) devices to use the Internet at a fraction of the present cost.

The notion centered round blockchain rewards providers in cryptocurrency; instead of a Proof-of-work Protocol, rewards will hinge on confirming that other hotspots are providing a legitimate service, as well as providing services themselves.

Helium is rolling out the 1st of its launch devices in Austin, Texas, United States, with plans to vend their hardware nationally in the US by the 4th quarter 2019.
