A new solution “Ericsson Critical IoT” addresses the time-critical communication needs for consumers, enterprises and public sectors across various industries. It is intended for time-critical applications that demand data delivery within a specified time duration with required guarantee levels, according to Ericsson.
Realizing time-critical communication involves an end to end approach to give the desired end output. Ericsson Critical IoT solution includes RAN, Transport, 5G Core, Management & Orchestration, BSS, and Support Services, guaranteeing consistent low latency and high reliability.
The solution can be easily deployed as a software upgrade on 5G public and private networks for both wide and local areas, in any 5G frequency band. Ericsson Critical IoT solution consists of two software products with separate design and roadmap:
- Ericsson Critical IoT for Public RAN, to be deployed in 5G public networks, enabling, e.g., cloud gaming, public safety and connected vehicle’s use-cases
- Ericsson Critical IoT for Private 5G, to be deployed in local- and wide area dedicated networks to enable high-performance use cases e.g., smart factories and mines
