Entries from startups being accepted for IoT competition

ZWaveLabsEntries are being accepted from startups and entrepreneurs for September for the Z-Wave Labs, a competition organised by the Z-Wave Alliance, an open consortium of leading global companies deploying Z-Wave.

This year-long competition is aimed at supporting and incentivizing Internet of Things (IoT) innovation on the Z-Wave platform. Z-Wave technology is an open internationally recognised ITU standard, and claims to be the leading wireless home control technology in the market today, with over 1350 certified interoperable products worldwide.

The Z-Wave Labs Program accepts applications from startups and entrepreneurs looking to bring Z-Wave products to market in categories including (but not limited to) residential, commercial, automotive, healthcare, security, energy and aging in place. Once a month, the program seeks to reward one selected individual or company with a year-long full membership to the Z-Wave Alliance, as well as access to the new IoT-ready 500 Series Z-Wave Developer Kits from Sigma Designs.

The summer winner of this IoT developer competition, Embue, was announced last month. Embue is a Boston, United States-based startup focused on empowering multifamily property managers to tackle energy and operational waste is the next winner of the Alliance’s Z-Wave Labs program.

Formed in January 2005, the Z-Wave Alliance is a consortium of leading companies in the home technology space dedicated to solidifying Z-Wave as the standard for wireless home control products. The principal members include: ADT, Evolve Guest Controls, FAKRO, Ingersoll Rand Nexia Intelligence, Jasco Products, LG Uplus, Nortek Security & Control, SmartThings and Sigma Designs.
