Connected devices in India can unlock revenue potential of over $11 bln by 2020: Report

A new report has said that there will over 2 billion connected devices in India by 2022, unlocking a revenue potential of around US $11.1 billion.

The joint study by Assocham and EYIoT said the Internet of Things (IoT) was transforming the way people lived, shopped, and worked, and used technology. On average, an Indian spends more than 200 minutes a day on smartphones.

The report stated that over 460 million people in India were using the Net today. In terms of data consumption per day, India ranked number one, consuming 76PB data daily. China and the US followed India, consuming 69PB and 53PB data per day, respectively.

This, said the report, clearly showed that India was a mobile-first economy with 96 percent of people accessing the Internet using mobile, higher than the average for emerging markets at 80 percent.
