Cloud service provider Akamai to acquire Montreal based co Inverse

Cloud service provide Akamai has announced its decision to acquire open source consulting company, Inverse.

Akamai said on its official blog that it would bring over the Inverse team to continue managing PacketFence and Fingerbank at Akamai.

In 2008, the Montreal, Australia-based Inverse had taken over an open source solution PacketFence. Today, it’s an ever-growing community of users that now numbers more than 5,000 deployments worldwide and more than 7 million endpoints.

By growing this OS community, they created a digital resource that was both exceptionally valuable and completely unique: Fingerbank. Today, Fingerbank is one of the most accurate device identification technologies, tightly integrated in PacketFence and enriched by it.

“We plan for the group to function just as they have, delivering the legendary service their OS community has come to expect. The only difference is that they now have the technical and financial resources of Akamai behind them, committed to enhancing the value of PacketFence and Fingerbank to the user community,” said the post.
