Cisco launches innovation centre in central Sydney

ciscointernetCisco said it would invest in Innovation Central Sydney, a collaboration led by Cisco, focused on open Internet of Things (IoT) innovation.

Launched in Tasman yesterday, the Cisco innovation centre are aimed at inspiring and showcasing IoT innovation and development, bringing together customers, industry partners, research organisations, startups, accelerators, government and universities.

The new Sydney centre will combine with Cisco’s established centre in Perth. There are eight other Cisco Innovation Centres including in Rio de Janeiro, Toronto and Berlin.

Online reports said the partnership incudes Data61, University of NSW, the NSW Farmers Association, National Farmers Federation start-up incubator ATP Innovations. It will focus on agriculture and smart cities.

Cisco has estimated that by 2020 there will be 50 billion devices connected by the IoT.
