China’s Internet of Things business touched US $90 bln in 2014

The Chinese news agency Xinhua reports that the value of China’s Internet of Things (IoT) industry had touched 580 billion yuan (US $90 billion) in 2014, a yearly increase of 18.46 percent.

The IoT, which connects traditional devices, including home appliances, to the Internet, has become a powerful driving force of innovation and economic growth in China, said the report issued by Xinhua News Agency on an IoT expo in Wuxi City, east China’s Jiangsu Province.

China’s IoT technologies, said the report, had continued to integrate with both traditional industries like agriculture and manufacturing and new industries such as new energy and new materials.

China had formed four IoT industry centers in Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Bohai Rim, and central and western China.
