Smart home IoT service in China launched by China Unicom and Zeewave

Guangzhou, China, Oct 16, 2015: Sigma Designs, a provider of intelligent system-on-chip (SoC) solutions focused on Internet of Things (IoT), smart TV and media connectivity today announced a co-operative program with China Unicom, Guangdong, to bring smart-home automation solutions to China Unicom subscribers via Zeewave’s Smart Home gateway.

The first public demonstration of the smart home system will also be showcased at the on-going 12th China International Small and Medium Enterprise Fair.

“Choosing the interoperable Z-Wave technology to create these innovative solutions for meeting consumer demand for smart home services has allowed Zeewave to get to market with confidence because Z-Wave has a 10-year track record and is market-proven,” said Yang Xiang, Chief Executive Officer of Zeewave, in a written statement.

Zeewave is using Z-Wave, the industry leading smart home IoT technology which claimed to have over 90 per cent market share in the US security service provider space. For the past 3 years, Zeewave had been doing in-depth technology development to build a first class system that is stable and fully interoperable.

The Zeewave system had seven key distinctions: an open platform, leading technology, voice control, intelligent learning, personal customization, GPS activation of scenes, and ease of installation.

The aim of Zeewave Smart Home system was to improve people’s quality of life by allowing the creation of various scenes which will address everyday consumer needs, such as saving energy, ensuring home safety and peace of mind. Zeewave Smart Home included an ‘easy to use’ APP that brought together the Z-Wave devices to create the customizable scenes to suit consumers’ lifestyles.

Zeewave will be using China Unicom broadband service to offer the smart home solution to China Unicom customers. There were four different types of packages to choose from, Security, Health, Energy Saving and a Premium Suite package.
