CamioCam is a Cloud-based video monitoring app that makes it simple to turn any Wi Fi enabled phone, Tablet or IP camera into a motion-sensing home surveillance camera which you can interact with remotely.
All you have to do is download & install the free CamioCam app & leave it & the phone wherever you want it to function as a surveillance camera. You can then open the CamioCam app on any other device (mobile or Web app) to view the feed from your phone camera.

Making the app use your phone’s motion sensing capabilities through WebRTC removes the cost of buying, installing & maintaining a home video surveillance system. After that, it’s just a question of your phone or Tablet functioning as a connected smart device on the Internet of Things (IoT).
Also, the “live” feed from your camera is just the basic functionality. CamioCam goes well beyond this by using algorithms that decide which motion you should be notified about.
You can furthermore break up the camera view into custom zones & decide which zones you are interested in. The app will only send you alerts for movement in your chosen zones.
This greatly reduces the number of false positives that make you drop everything & check in on your home, only to find that a gentle wind tipped over something on a table. It also eliminates the need to monitor continuously & go through hours of video, thus greatly reducing the bandwidth usage.
When you get an alert from CamioCam, the app’s video feed will open to the exact moment when the alert was generated. You can also filter & search through the videos to jump to the exact one you are looking for.
It stores the videos in the Cloud for 30 days, & you can share your feed view with an unlimited number of people. The premium part only kicks in when you want to record using the app on more than one camera. You have to pay US $9 per month for each additional camera.
CamioCam was developed by Camiolog, Inc. The San Mateo, CA-based company was founded in Jan 2013 by former Googler Carter Maslan. The company has raised $1 million in seed funding from a group of investors which includes Freestyle Capital, Greylock Partners, Marissa Mayer, Brian McClendon, John Hanke, Floodgate Fund, & the Box Group.
