Brazil sets up IoT centre

The Brazilian government has set up a technology development centre with special focus on the Internet of Things (IoT), and robotics and 5G.

A report in ZDNet said that according to the Ministry for Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), the centre was the first government research facility to employ the quintuple innovation helix framework, which describes university-industry-government-public-environment interactions within a knowledge economy.

The centre was located in Sorocaba, about 103 miles from São Paulo. Sector experts are hopeful that the new unit will generate more jobs and skilled professionals in the so-called “4.0 technologies”, as well as technology application in various sectors and product manufacturing.
