Australian Govt seeks views on IoT code draft

The Australian government has released a draft code of practice for securing the Internet of Things (IoT). As a first step, there will be a public consultation on the draft code till March 1, 2020.

On the Home Affairs Website, the Aussie Government has said an estimated 64 billion devices are likely to be connected to the Internet globally by 2025. Many of these devices have poor cyber security settings, leaving Australians vulnerable to cyber attacks.

The Government expects devices are designed with basic cyber security features so that Australian consumers can work and live securely Online. 

We are seeking your views to shape our proposed voluntary Code of Practice: Securing the Internet of Things for Consumers. You can contribute your views by submitting a response.

Further initiatives for lifting the security of the Internet of Things will be explored through the 2020 Cyber Security Strategy, it added.
