Apple Inc has confirmed that it had acquired self-driving shuttle US firm Drive.ai.
News agency Reuters reported this. Earlier this month, tech Site ‘The Information’ had reported that the iPhone maker was considering acquiring the firm.
Experts say the new move by Apple to bring aboard some of its engineering talent will boost Apple’s own self-driving efforts.
Drive.ai had been running a small fleet of test shuttles in Texas, but has told regulators it wants to lay off 90 people in a permanent closure, as reported by The San Francisco Chronicle.
