30 brands and companies on list of Connected World Awards

Audi, the City of San Carlos, BrickHouse Security and Joy Global are some of the well-known brands and companies which find themselves on the just-released Connected World Awards list. The latter is to mark the latest innovations in the Internet of Things (IoT) including building automation, consumer electronics, healthcare, location-based services, security, retail, utilities, and more.

The winning companies will be honored on February 13 this year during the 2014 Connected World Conference. The Connected World Awards honor the companies that have successfully leveraged M2M in order to solve a critical pain point within their business, all with quantifiable results, a press release said. The Connected World Conference, February 8-17, is co-located within the 2014 Chicago Auto Show.

The CWC is a global expo for the connected technologies that are transforming our professional and personal lives. It claims to be the only expo that provides access to the players and the products in front of and behind the IoT, and create awareness of connected devices within transportation, health/fitness, energy, and home, among others.

The CWC is designed to bridge the link between app developers, device makers, and software companies that are involved with creating products and services designed to link their vertically focused products with the in-vehicle experience.

Successful finalists have combined multiple technologies, such as device, connectivity, hardware, radio modules, network service and provisioning, as well as application software and infrastructure, to create a winning solution; this is often referred to as the value chain.
